« Aux quatre vents » questions the landscape as a social, economic and political space. The project focuses on consumption, the free movement of products on any given territory and the lobbying in the foodstuffs industry. The old seeds varieties have been banned from the market and are considered illegal, because they are not registered in the Official Catalogue. This is how multinationals account for 40% of the global seed market today. François Martig collects these old grain types and disseminates them in various territories. He does this with the help of carrier pigeons, by releasing balloons or by distributing them at local markets. These popular methods encourage the illegal sabotage of exotic grains across the Schengen area and raise a more largescale ambition that aims to create new landscapes and new species in
a planetary blending exercise
